More about Rolfing
The practise of Rolfing was developed in the1950-60s by American bio-chemist Dr. Ida Rolf. With her new modality Rolf intuited the fascia (our web of connective tissue) and it’s function in our bodies in relation to gravity, way before science caught up with her. And was part of a paradigm shift in understanding our bodies and how to help them. The role of fascia took it’s time to build meaning in the fitness, health and medical worlds, reaching them more fully in the early 2000s, and is only just moving into meaning in our everyday lives.
Rolf said:
“Some individuals may perceive their losing fight with gravity as a sharp pain in their back, others as an unflattering contour of their body, others as constant fatigue, yet others as an unrelenting threatening environment. Those over 40 my call it old age. And yet all these signals may be pointing to a single problem so prominent in their own structure, that it has been ignored: they are off balance, they are at war with gravity”
